Irina Ala-Opas (formerly Vavilova), originally from Saint Petersburg, is one of the leading Finnish organists.

 

She currently works at the University of the Arts Helsinki's Sibelius Academy Kuopio Unit as a lecturer in church music, specializing in liturgical music and organ improvisation, and as an organ performance instructor at the Kuopio Conservatory.

 

In addition to her teaching duties, Irina actively performs as an organist in a versatile range of roles: as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist, and occasionally as part of an orchestra, both in Finland and abroad.
